ExOne Opens DREAM Center

ExOne's new DREAM center will help customers incorporate 3D printing into their design and engineering processes.

Deploying 3D print technology is relatively simple. Altering product designs to full take advantage of the benefits of 3D printing is a much more complex challenge. A new customer collaboration project in the Pittsburgh area is designed to help companies make that transition. The ExOne Company opened its new state-of-the-art Design and Re-Engineering for Additive Manufacturing (DREAM) center located at the company’s North Huntingdon, PA, facility. ExOne-Locations-The-Americas-Corporate-Headquarters

According to the company, the DREAM center was developed as a “physical and virtual site for collaboration with customers to explore and incorporate the benefits of ExOne’s binder jetting technology.”  By providing access to the company’s technical expertise and advanced software, the center will enable customers to create designs of metal components that leverage the benefits of additive manufacturing.

The Pennsylvania facility already housed the company’s Mid-Atlantic Production Service Center (PSC) for the printing of metal parts.

“As we focus on accelerating the adoption rate of our binder jetting technology for industrial manufacturing of metal components, we’re excited to launch our world-class DREAM center,” said S. Kent Rockwell, chairman and CEO of ExOne. “It is an integrated engineering environment supporting our customers, our production service centers, our research and development activities, and our global sales team. We believe the DREAM center will further facilitate customer training and design support, helping users optimize 3D printing and the benefits it can bring to their manufacturing processes.”

There are several other 3D printing facilities in the Pittsburgh area, each with a slightly different mission. Last year, GE announced it would build a $32 million facility near the airport to develop 3D printing technology and other manufacturing processes. There are also several large makerspaces in the city.
