Upgrades to the EOS M 290 include extensive quality management, expanded monitoring functions, flexible components and accessories, optimized process gas management and increased level of user friendliness, the company states.

The system has a 400W laser, and can process materials such as light alloys, stainless and tool-grade steels as well as superalloys. Users are also given access to EOS ParameterEditor for specific applications. There is also an updated graphic user interface (GUI)  developed for production environments.

“The M 290 sets a new standard for the North American market,” says Andrew Snow, senior vice president, EOS of North America, Inc. “We are listening to our customers and the demand is part-cost reduction. The new system provides that by offering a module design with standardized electrical controls to improve the overall serviceability. This system also reduces the recurring cost of operation by maintaining a reduced and improved gas flow in the processing chamber as well as an innovative self-cleaning, long-life, recirculating filter system.  All of these elements serve our current and future customers’ requests for a reduction in operation and cost-per-part expense.”
