Appro has introduced the Appro Tetra server, a 1U form factor based on NVIDIATesla 20-series GPUs.
The new Appro 1U Tetra GPU server features two CPUs and four NVIDIA Tesla M2050 GPUs with 6x hot-swappable 2.5-in. HDDs and one PCIe expansion slot per server. It offers integrated IPMI 2.0 remote server management capabilities, high-speed interconnect options, and a choice of Linux or Windows operating systems. It also offers green features such as intelligent power control capabilities to dynamically power down pairs of GPUs to provide power savings for thermal efficiency and system reliability.
The Appro Tetra server is offered in two models: the Appro 1426G4 server hosted by the latest Intel Xeon processor supporting up to 96GB of memory, and the Appro 1326G4 server hosted by the latest AMD Opteron processor supporting up to 128GB of memory. Both models offer a 12GB of ECC GDDR5 memory support with a total of 1,792 GPU cores.
Appro is excited to work with NVIDIA and committed to delivering HPC GPU solutions to customers that address price/performance with dense supercomputing solutions providing optimum application performance that is perfect for massively parallel and data intensive applications, says John Lee, vice president of Advanced Technology Solutions for Appro.
Appro has also announced the launch a new modular GPU expansion blade based on the new NVIDIA Tesla M2050 GPU to be offered as a configuration option for the Appro GreenBlade System.
The Appro GreenBlade System is a building block blade solution for high performance computing applications. The GreenBlade system is an alternative to 1U servers for customers looking to consolidate server, storage, network, power, and simplified management capabilities. Configurations are complemented with storage or GPU expansion blades offering customers affordable mix and match compute and storage blade options.
The Appro GreenBlade System comes in a 5U form factor and supports up to 10 server blades in one package. If configured as a CPU and GPU combination, the Appro GreenBlade GPU system supports five dual CPU server blades with five GPU expansion blades offering up to 4,480 GPU cores. The Appro gB222X server model is hosted by the Intel Xeon processor, while the Appro gB322H server model is hosted by the AMD Opteron processor.
The IT departments in HPC market segments are always in the need for more computing performance while building a scalable and environmentally-friendly infrastructure that lowers total cost of ownership, says Lee. The Appro GPU expansion blade based on NVIDIA Tesla 20-series GPUs combines the latest technologies and affordable green computing to boost technical applications performance while offering a reliable, flexible and price competitive system architecture.
