Altair Invests in FluiDyna GmbH

The collaboration will develop CFD applications for aerodynamics and more.

Altair has invested in FluiDyna GmbH, a developer of native fluid dynamics and numerical simulation techniques. With this transaction, the companies will collaborate to create GPU (graphics processing unit) optimized CFD (computational fluid dynamics) applications for aerodynamics and multi-phase flows in complex geometries.

Altair will also be integrating FluiDyna’s nanoFluidX and ultraFluidX platforms into HyperWorks through its Partner Alliance program. ultraFluidX solves large scale internal and external aerodynamics problems, while nanoFluidX is a fluid dynamics simulation tool.

“FluiDyna’s technology and expertise complement Altair’s CFD offerings by providing yet another methodology particularly tuned for external aerodynamics, fast computation and our core strength in optimization,” said Uwe Schramm, chief technical officer at Altair.  “The collaboration between our CAE (HyperWorks) and HPC (PBS Works) development teams with FluiDyna’s experts will offer new and exciting opportunities to expand our product portfolio that is taking advantage of GPU-based clusters and supports green computing initiatives.”
