Advantech Released Atom AIMB-212 Mini-ITX Motherboard

Advantech has introduced a new industrial-grade, Mini-ITX motherboard featuring the latest Intel Atom processors. The single-core N450 and the dual-core D510 integrate the graphics and memory controller hub (GMCH) onto a single chip, enabling smaller applications and more power savings. AIMB-212 brings I/O connectivity with up to eight USB 2.0 and six COM ports integrated in a standard 170 x 170 mm form factor. These motherboards also support dual display for LVDS and VGA.

The new Atom processors are built on 45nm process technology. The graphics and memory controller are both integrated onto the same chip,  enabling more space-efficient solutions. The thermal design power (TDP) rating of the Intel Atom N450 single-core architecture is 5.5 Watts, while the Intel Atom D510 dual-core processor is 13 Watts. AIMB-212 uses the Intel ICH8M chipset, which provides direct current DC 12V support. AIMB-212 can support system memory of up to 2 GB of DDR2 667 SDRAM.

The AIMB-212 comes with expansion options. CompactFlash, PCI bus, six COM, eight USB, 8-bit GPIO, and Mini-PCIe expansion slots are available, while a dual Intel chipset 10/100/1000 Mbps Ethernet port is also available to deliver high speed networking.

With Intel’s integrated, embedded Gen3.5+ graphics core and 200/400-MHz render clock frequency for N450/D510, AIMB-212 offers integrated 3D graphics and video capability with up to 224 MB of shared graphics memory. AIMB-212 supports dual display with multiple display types such as CVGA + LVDS. Video output is complemented by HD audio for a complete audio/visual solution.
